Who is Tim Lybarger?

Tim is a product of Southern Illinois -- born and raised in the small town of Salem. Following his graduation from Salem Community High School in 1994, he attended Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, IL) where he received a bachelor's degree in History Education in 1999 and a master's degree in School Counseling in 2001.

From 2001 to 2003, Tim served as a social counselor and sociology teacher to the students of Marshall High School (Marshall, IL). In 2003, he moved to the Champaign-Urbana (IL) area where he has been employed as a school counselor at Mahomet-Seymour High School (Mahomet, IL) ever since.

Having always enjoyed topics of nostalgia and pop culture, Tim's side interests led him to providing online services for musicians and notable popular figures. East-Nashville-based musicians Todd Snider and the late Peter Cooper are two performers Tim has worked with prior to establishing the Neighborhood Archive -- an online collection of "all things Mister Rogers."

With the Neighborhood Archive growing in popularity since 2008, Tim has formed a cooperative and friendly working relationship with Fred Rogers Productions (Pittsburgh, PA), the non-profit company established by Fred Rogers in 1971 under the name Family Communications, Inc. Continuing to pursue his research and collection of memorabilia from throughout the career of Fred Rogers, Tim's growth of the Neighbohrood Archive led to his involvement as co-author of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: A Visual History (Clarkson Potter, 2020). Additionally, Tim has provided commentary for such television specials as The Untold Story: The Karate Kid (REELZ, 2022) and has written articles for publications including LINK Magazine and mental_floss. He is also the founder of Third Quarter Run -- a creative web-based storefront offering simple products based on obscure pop culture reference.

In his personal life, Tim is an avid fan of the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs, the 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles...and the New York Knicks. He enjoys music from all genres -- specifically bar-circuit folk music and old-school hip-hop. More than just about anything, Tim loves a good book and a hot cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

Ultimately, Tim's priority in life has become his faith and his relationship with Jesus. He is living evidence that a person can have liberal opinions, wear flip-flops to church, drop an occasional f-bomb and have countless imperfections ... while still loving Jesus and being loved by Him in return.

Tim currently lives in Mahomet, IL with his wife, Trisha, and their five kids.
